Lakers News: LA Officially Signs Undrafted FA’s Colin Castleton & D’Moi Hudge to 2-Way Deals
Prior to their first Summer League game against the Miami Heat, the Lakers announced that they had signed two un-drafted players to two-way deals. They signed center Colin Castleton out of the University of Florida and D'Moi Hudge from the University of Missouri.
Both players figure to see the court for the Lakers at some point this season if they can continue to develop and improve their games. Neither will likely be mainstays in the NBA but any help the team can get from their two-way players will be taken.
Castleton averaged 16 points and 7.7 rebounds last season for the Gators in 26 games. He pulled the same route to the NBA as now Lakers Austin Reaves, telling teams not to select him in the later parts of the second round due to his want to sign with the Lakers. The center has some upside with his size and ability to score at the basket. With the Lakers center spot being somewhat thin, Castleton could be an intriguing name to watch out for if he can produce.
As for Hudge, he showed strong defensive potential and good three-point shooting during his time with the Tigers, making him a great pickup for LA. He averaged 14.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for Missouri. Hudge also shot 40 percent from three which is something that the Lakers will certainly monitor.
The Lakers scouting department has been great with their un-drafted guys in the past so both of these players should be looked at as possible players for the NBA down the line.
