Lakers News: LA Scheduled Above-Average Amount of Back to Back’s in 2023-2024
At long last, we have scheduled NBA regular season games for your Los Angeles Lakers. Over the last few weeks, we have seen some leaks come out and some more primetime matchups revealed. But now we have the entire slate of games.
LA will be opening the season against the defending champion Denver Nuggets on the road. This should be a nice test for the Lakers to start the season. They’ll look to steal the opening game and spoil the ring ceremony that will be happening in Denver.
The schedule makers then have LA facing off against the Phoenix Suns in the home opener at Crypto.com Arena. So, the Lakers have a tough few games to open the year, but it will be good to get these games out of the way.
However, the schedule makers didn’t do LA any favors when it comes to back-to-back games. The league has wanted to cut down on them throughout the season, but the Lakers have 15 of them this season.
This sits above the league average and is three more than the team has seen over the last few seasons.
The first one of the season comes just days into the new year. LA will play the Sacramento Kings on the road on October 29th and then head home to take on the Orlando Magic on October 30th.
Unfortunately, LA will have so many, but it is what it is. We will likely see players taking some rest days during these games to make sure they are fresh for the season. The team will need to find creative ways for guys to miss games if they aren’t hurt, as the NBA has started to crack down on load management.
No matter what, the Lakers should be in good shape to compete for another title. It should be a fun season and this is just the start of it.
