Lakers News: LA Unveils 2023 Summer League Squad Featuring Some Big Names

Summer League is right around the corner!

Now that the draft is over, the next thing on the bucket list is the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The roster is headlined by some names that you might recognize. There are players that were just drafted, and even some players on the G-League team that are trying to make a name for themselves:

Of course the Lakers' first round pick Jalen Hood-Schifino stands out, but there are plenty of other storylines up and down the roster.

Maxwell Lewis, the Lakers second round pick is obviously looking forward to playing for his childhood team. How will it feel for him to suit up for the first time as a Laker?

Scotty Pippen Jr. isn't even on a two-way contract with the Lakers. He was assigned to the South Bay lakers of the G-League, and he's trying to prove himself worthy of a roster spot in the Summer League.

Max Christie is also one to watch going into the Summer League. Could he compete for a bench spot?

Or how about the pair of Florida Gators teammates that both signed with the Lakers Alex Fudge and Colin Castleton?

The Summer league is also an opportunity for players to get used to the fast-paced game that is the NBA. While the G-League is still affiliated with the professional ranks, it's a lot like minor league baseball.

While the Summer League may not have the big names like LeBron James or Anthony Davis, it's always important to pay attention to some of the guys that could make an impact for the team off the bench, or become cult-classic heroes like Alex Caruso.
