In this story:

Lakers defensive-minded forward Jarred Vanderbilt may not miss the entire season after all.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Vanderbilt will be re-evaluated by team doctors in 3-4 weeks.

It doesn't mean he'll be back in three to four weeks, but he could be back before the end of the regular season.

Vanderbilt suffered a right foot injury in the team's win over the rival Boston Celtics on Thursday toward the end of the first half. It didn't look good, and there was the word he could miss the entire season.

However, this update points in a positive direction for Vanderbilt and the team. As we all know, the wing is pivotal to the Laker's success, especially on the defensive side.

He is a pesky defender who wreaks havoc for the opposing offense. The possibility of a return could change the Lakers' approach toward Thursday's NBA Trade Deadline.

They will still be without him for a significant time, so we shouldn't rule out Los Angeles targeting a defensive Stallworth at the trade deadline.

This is promising news for the purple and gold. We wish Vanderbilt the best and a speedy recovery.
