Lakers News: LeBron James, Anthony Davis Achieve Unique LA History In Kings Loss

This is good and bad.

After your Los Angeles Lakers' 132-127 overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, a lot can be pointed to regarding what caused the loss.

Austin Reaves shooting 1-of-12, Taurean Prince going cold at the worst moments, Gabe Vincent scoring 2 points in 31 minutes of play, and poor rotations, are all amongst the list of issues that cost LA the game.

Two players that cannot be held accountable for the losses (generally speaking), are Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Take a look at what they did tonight:

Those two having such excellent performances and the team still coming up short is a major red flag for this group going forward.

This Lakers team is relatively healthy, and LeBron played 10 minutes above what his "minutes restriction" was supposed to entail, leaving it all out on the floor for 39 minutes, including overtime.

If James and Davis are going to set per-game productivity records, the expectation is that the Lakers would win said games.

Not doing so reflects a broader issue with the team, potentially involving the caliber of the guys around them, their ability to consistently score, and their confidence/assertion when it comes to initiating offense and creating shots.

Reaves, Russell, and Vincent, all of whom are expected to contribute significantly offensively, need to be better going forward.

As AD/LeBron miss games due to rest, injuries, and have their nights where they don't set records, the Lakers will find themselves in really dangerous spots on a nightly basis if the supporting cast continues to be as poor as it has been.
