Los Angeles Lakers All-Star power forward LeBron James offered some wisdom to some of the younger NBA players earlier this week.

The 21-year NBA veteran has seen a lot in over two decades in the league, and is clearly one of the best examples of how to remain successful over a long period of time in the league.

In particular, James advised younger players to avoid getting lost in all the material stuff, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

"The cars, the jewelry, and all the other dumb shit don’t matter,” James said. “It means absolutely nothing. I see a lot of these young kids get so unfocused about stuff that is so material. They can lose their focus. Worry about the game and everything will take care of itself."

James instead advised young players to do the following:

"Learn the history of the game. Respect the ones that came before you ... Understand what a professional is all about. Show up to work, be ready to work," James said.

Throughout his career, James has not just been one of the biggest superstars because of his talent, but his consistency and focus on the game. This focus has been a factor in why James has hit such milestones like winning four NBA Finals trophies, four NBA MVPs, breaking the NBA all-time scoring record.

Of course in any professional sport, including the NBA, it's easy for a young player suddenly earning millions to get caught up in the money, fame, and material luxuries they now can afford. However, as James points out, it's important not to let these fancy items cost them their focus on the game and ultimately, their future success.
