Lakers News: LeBron James Considered "A Lock" For 2024 Olympics
Team USA basketball is assembling one of the greatest basketball teams ever.
What better way to call it the best team ever than by noting that it's fielding arguably having the best player ever to pick up a basketball in current Los Angeles Laker LeBron James? Sure, he may no longer be in his absolute prime, but he remains a ferocious competitor nevertheless.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania and Joe Vardon, James is one of a handful of players to be considered a 'lock' for the summer games.
This would be James' fourth appearance in the Olympics after appearing in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 games.
He won the gold in two of the three times he appeared in (2008 and 2012) and a bronze medal in 2004.
The other star-studded players considered 'locks' are Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum. This team with these five alone is already a problem on paper, and this is only the beginning of what should be a star-studded roster.
Team USA will be seeking their fifth-straight gold medal in pairs and 17th overall. It's been a tournament where it's been USA's to lose. However, with the game's growth globally, these summer games will be the toughest to date.
However, with Hall of Famer after Hall of Famer and a great coaching staff behind them, USA should be the favorite to bring home the gold once again.
