Lakers News: LeBron James Continues To Give Back To Akron Community
Los Angeles Lakers All-Star forward LeBron James is once again giving back to the community as he is helping out people in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
James recently opened an affordable housing complex in northeast Ohio. The housing complex contains 50 apartments that come with modern amenities.
The community was created through James's I Promise Program which helps students and their families be the best they can be both in and out of the classroom.
In the past the program has built a school in Akron, a village where students can go if they're homeless and a scholarship program.
The I Promise Program was created in 2011 as a part of the LeBron James Family Foundation. that works to better the community in Akron.
Through the LeBron James Family Foundation, a bike-a-thon is hosted annually that created the idea of the I Promise Program.
Since the I Promise School has been opened in 2018, over 1400 students have received an education thanks to the 19-time All-Star.
The I Promise Program is continuing its important work to help students in the Akron area live the best lives they can.
The housing complex will not be the last project that James will work on that helps out the community.
