Lakers News: LeBron James Explains Latest Cryptic Tweet
The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to acquire eight-time All-Star Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets. Irving will take his talents to the Dallas Mavericks and join superstar Luka Doncic in the Lone Star State.
Laker fans were upset that the purple and gold could not acquire the 30-year-old, but none were more upset than Lakers superstar LeBron James who tweeted something out after the Mavs made the deal for Kyrie that caused speculation all over Twitter.
This tweet went rampant, as over 90 million people viewed it, and it was retweeted by more than 80 thousand people.
James spoke with the media and explained what he meant by his tweet.
"It's all about accountability for me," James said of the tweet. "I'm always challenging myself, taking accountability for myself. I think your greatest challenge and your greatest enemy is the person that you look in the mirror. So I'm always just trying to take accountability for me. You know, what can I do better? How can I be better? Is there things I can do more? Is there things I can do to be greater at to not only help the ball club and everybody all automatically think it's basketball, but it's in life in general.
"So it's always just, it's me talking to me and to holding myself comfortable."
At the end of the day, it's no one's fault, not even the Lakers brass. Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report revealed that LA was willing to give up their two coveted 2027 and 2029 first-round draft picks for Irving, along with Russell Westbrook.
James and Irving were teammates for three seasons in Cleveland from 2014-2017. The duo brought home Cleveland's first championship in decades and the Cavaliers first in franchise history.
NBA reporter Marc Stein reported that Nets governor Joe Tsai did everything in his power not to give Irving what he wanted, including making him a Los Angeles Laker.
James shouldn't hold himself accountable for this, but it's understandable why he is so disappointed with the outcome.
LA could now look to make other moves on the table that can increase the club's chances at an NBA title.
