LeBron's stellar year continues!
In this story:

Summertime is filled with award shows all over the entertainment industry, and in sports, that is no different as we are a few weeks removed from the annual ESPY Awards.

Just like the the nation's renowned award shows, the Oscars and Emmys, the ESPYs are a national celebration for sports' greatest moments in the past year. The ESPYs also honor the greatest athletes of today from all over the world.

This year All-NBA Los Angeles Lakers small forward LeBron James has been nominated for the "Best Record-Breaking Performance" award for surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time points, making him the NBA's new leader.

James is nominated among other athletes, such as Nuggets All-NBA center Nikola Jokic, WNBA power forward/center Candace Parker, NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin.

Jokic and Mahomes are nominated for their championship sealing seasons, along with Shiffrin, who has secured her 87th World Cup win. Candace Parker joins the nominated group, securing her sixth consecutive ESPY nomination.

LeBron James is not new to the ESPY stage, as he has been nominated for an award since his rookie season in 2003, and has won it seven times in his athletic career.

Despite being nominated for this award, James is left off the "Best NBA Player" list. Nominations for this award include some pretty shiny NBA stars like Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid.

The Lakers star's nomination can be voted by fans on the ESPY website up until July 9th, and the winner will be announced at the live ceremony in Los Angeles.

Don't miss out on the chance to see LeBron win at the ESPYs. The ceremony will air on July 12th, 8pm EST on ABC.
