At 27-25 and occupying the ninth seed in the Western Conference, your Los Angeles Lakers hardly look like world beaters. The NBA trade deadline is two days away as of this writing, and LA has at least enough movable contracts to make some level of deal. Whether that would be enough to topple the loaded Denver Nuggets or Los Angeles Clippers, however, is anyone's guess.

All-Star Lakers forward LeBron James at least claims to be happy with his locker room colleagues, Dave McMenamin of ESPN writes.

“It’s not a question for me,” James said, when asked about how he felt about his team potentially making deals. “I love who we have in the locker room. And that’s all I worry about. … We’re going to go out and prepare ourselves every single night no matter what it is. No matter who’s out on this team. No matter what.”

We know that's not entirely true, as James has been posting cryptic tweets and offering his usual passive aggressive midseason press conference quotes in recent weeks.

James has always been happy to pressure his teams' front offices in years past, and presumably he's not satisfied with LA's current standing. Yes, the 39-year-old has regressed a bit this year, but he remains a high-caliber player.
