Lakers News: LeBron James Reaches Unwanted Moment In Postseason Accolade Voting
The 2022-2023 MVP was rewarded to Philadephia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid. Embiid got 73 first-place votes, followed by Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic with 15 first-place votes, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo with 12 first-place votes, and so on.
Embiid deserved the MVP this season, and even though it is debatable, people can't argue his dominance this season. Jole received his first-ever MVP award, and for the first time in his career, lakers superstar LeBron James also made history. This year was the first time James received 0 MVP votes in his career.
No first, second, third, fourth, or fifth-place votes came James' way in his 20th year in the league. A stat like this is astonishing, even for a talent like James. Nonetheless, he missed time due to an injury that resulted in not receiving any MVP votes.
Still, James was fantastic in his 20th season, averaging 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 55 games. The four-time MVP last won the award in the 2012-2013 season as a member of the Miami Heat. King James has gotten even better since his last MVP season, but the voters decided he was done winning MVPs.
The fact that James has not won an MVP in 10 years is ridiculous, but he still received some love from voters after all these years, except for this season. His reign has lasted longer than anyone could have envisioned, don't take him for granted; before you know, LeBron could be out of the game soon. Let's hope we're still ways away from it.
