Lakers News: Max Christie Headlines All-Summer League 2nd Team After Excellent Campaign

Is he ready for the next step?
In this story:

The Los Angeles Lakers have a lot to look forward to for the next couple of years with Austin Reaves hopefully getting even better, Anthony Davis having healthy, dominant seasons and also Max Christie getting a real spot in the rotation. He logged 41 games with the main squad in his rookie season where he logged just 12 minutes per match and averaged about three points and two rebounds.

However, he made huge leaps in his second run with the summer league squad this year and before he went down with a hip injury. Through three games in Las Vegas with LA, Christie was able to average about 19 points, six rebounds and three assists on 50 percent from three and 46 percent from the field.

It's clear that he was much more comfortable out there this time around as he was seemingly able to score from all three levels while also finding open teammates and locking in on the defensive end. Even with Jalen Hood-Schifino and Maxwell Lewis being the newest draft picks coming in for the Lakers and trying to make an impact along with the returning Cole Swider, Christie took on a leadership role and the offense flowed through him.

The NBA recognized just how elite he was playing and Christie was actually named to the All-Summer League 2nd Team.

"Lakers guard Max Christie was named to the All-Summer League Second Team after averaging 19 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.7 apg and 2.3 bpg in Sacramento and Las Vegas"

Christie has a role set out for him on LA this year as long as he continues his current improvement. Austin Reaves will be the starting shooting guard without a doubt for the purple and gold this coming season but Christie also brings a lot of size to the table and can play both ends.

Let's see how this plays out!
