Lakers News: Possible Future LA Free Agent Target Wants To Stay With Current Club
Long-time NBA veteran forward Jeff Green is scheduled to be a free agent this summer but if it's up to him, he isn't leaving the Denver Nuggets. Green spoke with the Denver Gazette about his plans and what he hopes for.
“I want to just play two more years and, if my wife lets me play three, cool. But my goal is to play two more years and be a Nugget for those two years."
-Jeff Green
Green seems to have found a home in Denver and rightfully so. He and the Nuggets are playing for the NBA title right now and the veteran has fit in seamlessly. Lakers insider Johan Buva of The Athletic had previously mentioned Green as a player that the Lakers would be interested in.
But alas, a reunion may not be in the cards if it's up to Green. He has played for 11 different teams throughout his career and he really doesn't want to make it 12. You'd have to assume that with the success the Nuggets have seen this season that they would be interested in retaining Green.
He would fit right in with the Lakers due to his ability to be a floor spacer and a good defender. Green also has experience playing alongside LeBron James during their time in Cleveland together. The final outcome of where Green will play next season remains at large but it's something to watch as the summer starts.
