Lakers News: Recently-Waived Clippers Guard Drawing Interest from LA
There are two things that any contender is always looking to add whenever free agency rolls around: defense and three-point shooting. This is no different for your Los Angeles Lakers who are coming off of an incredible run to the Western Conference Finals and will be looking to make some marginal additions to take them over the top.
And it just so happens that a frenemy squad in Los Angeles may have helped them be able to do just that. Eric Gordon, who is a career 37 percent shooter from three-point land, is 34-years-old and was just waived by the Clippers. He may not be able to defend much at this point in his career but he has plenty of experience battling deep into the postseason and still logged around 25-30 minutes of game time last season.
"The Clippers aren’t guaranteeing guard Eric Gordon’s $21 million contract and he’ll become a free agent, sources tell ESPN. Gordon has averaged 16 points on 37 percent three-point shooting in his 15-year career."

It's clear that after the Lakers take care of their main group of guys (potentially the entire trio of Austin Reaves, D'Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura), they will be looking to get some win-now players with their MLE and vet minimum contracts.
LA tried a different look within their roster during LeBron James' first year with the organization in 2019. They opted to bring in a number of versatile playmakers instead of sticking with the same recipe that has worked for years, surrounding The King with shooters. A number of guys have been brought in to this squad and failed to be the knockdown shooter, maybe Gordon still has some left in the tank.
And experts from The Athletic confirmed that the Lakers are among the top teams interested in the sharpshooter.
"Lakers, Grizzlies, Wolves, Suns, Bucks, Blazers and others — league sources say. Gordon, 34, who was recently waived by the Los Angeles Clippers, is said to be prioritizing an outlined role with a contender."

A meeting should at least be held with Gordon and maybe we could return the favor to the Clippers by poaching one of their players.
