With your Los Angeles Lakers' 2023-24 season set to continue tonight against the Phoenix Suns, the call for the team to make some upgrades to the roster grows louder. L.A. has been in a funk lately, and it has caused them to drop in the standings.

One name that has come up recently is Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks seem ready to change everything up on their end, and Murray would be a great addition to the Lakers.

However, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report doesn't know if the Hawks would be willing to send Murray to the Lakers, simply due to the lack of assets that they have.

“As for the Los Angeles Lakers, player of interest as well for them, Dejounte Murray. But, any type of deal centered around Dejounte Murray, it would have to be Austin Reaves,” Chris Haynes said. “You would think Austin Reaves would be a part of that. Rui Hachimura would probably be in it. And for Atlanta, that just wouldn’t be enough. It wouldn’t be enough. So, Lakers, they have interest, but the problem with the Lakers is they need more pieces that’s gonna be attractive for the Atlanta Hawks.”

The biggest issue with any trade for the team is their lack of trade chips. They have been hesitant to include guard Austin Reaves in any trade deals, and he is their biggest asset.

Los Angeles also doesn't have too many draft picks to work out, which could end up costing them. They would love Murray on the team, but it may be a pipedream at this point.

Maybe they can swing a three-team trade to make everything work out, but it remains unlikely. The Lakers front office will need to get creative over the next few weeks to figure out how to upgrade this team with what they have.
