Lakers News: Rich Paul Reveals If There Is Reality Behind LeBron James Trade Talk
Your Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise that has prided themselves on keeping their star players happy. They have rarely allowed incumbent stars to leave in free agency or be traded away.
Of course, there are some exceptions, but for the most part, they take care of their stars. With future Hall of Famers LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster, the Lakers have done what they can to field a winning team.
It hasn't always worked out and has led to speculation that the team could look to move James. With his history of moving teams when he deems them no longer worthy of winning a title, it could make sense given the struggles from Los Angeles this season.
However, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, James's agent Rich Paul recently clarified that James would not be traded by the Lakers and that his client has not asked to be moved by Los Angeles either.
This comes after some social media speculation on Thursday, kicked off by David Bingalore of KTLA 5 and partly inspired by James being a surprise last-minute scratch for LA's the highly-anticipated game against the Boston Celtics, which the Lakers somehow won anyway. But it was always a wild thought, and James will remain with the Lakers.
The Lakers don't want to be the team to go down in the history books to have traded James. He is arguably the best player of all time, so that would be a stain on the franchise.
James will stay with Los Angeles, and the team will look to make other improvements at the trade deadline. They've been one of the more active teams searching for help, and it could prove to be another big deadline for this team.
The hope is they can move on from all the drama of the year and work toward getting back to contention. This team needs more than one move to change the narrative, but the front office has earned the trust of the fanbase, at least for now.
