LeBron James and Dillon Brooks have created one of the funnier rivalries in the NBA of late, and it's completely without the doing of James. Brooks decided to take aim at him in the postseason last year, and he proceeded to trash-talk him during the Lakers first-round series against Memphis.

The Lakers got the last laugh, taking down Memphis in six games, but with Brooks now with the Houston Rockets, you just knew the matchups would be fun. Brooks has refused to back down from his aim at James, and nobody understands why.

But Lakers forward Rui Hachimura provided a hilarious theory about this rivalry.

“I don’t know what’s the beef between those two guys. But I know they’ve been doing it for a while now, especially last year in the playoffs. Yeah. Things going on,” Rui Hachimura said. “But for Bron, it’s nothing. It’s actually good for him. He needs that motivation. So it actually brings him more to the game. As you guys seen, whatever he’s doing, it doesn’t do anything to him. He actually scored more. He gets rebounds more. And we win. So those are things, Dillon Brooks, he just wants to be part of it — his legacy, I guess.”

Brooks likely knows that if he goes at James, he will be talked about heavily, and if that is the case, it's worked. Star players like James always have someone trying to challenge them, and it gets the attention of the media like crazy.

One-time Lakers guard Lance Stephenson did the same thing to James years ago while James was on the Miami Heat and Stephenson was with the Indiana Pacers. Everyone remembers Stephenson blowing into James' ear, though the rest of his on-court achievements may have faded a bit. It's just a natural progression for a player like James, and if anything, it adds some extra humor to the games.
