Lakers News: Shaq Makes Surprising Pick for His Favorite Player to Team Up With

This would be quite the duo!

Next to Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal is undoubtedly the most dominant big man to ever play the game of basketball and we have yet to see another center man the block the way he did in his prime days. Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are quite blessed to be able to say that all three of these legends suited up for their franchise.

However, it's also important to note that Shaq played in an era where big men were in high demand and the game was far different than today. The overall pace was much slower and three-pointers were taken at a smaller rate. Then, of course, someone by the name of Stephen Curry rolled around and changed the entire style of the sport.

We still have MVP-level centers in Nikola Jokic and Joel Embid but couple of minutes of film will show you that they approach each match far differently than O'Neal. Shaq never would have thought about taking a step-back three or going coast to coast during his Laker days.

But that doesn't mean he wouldn't want to play alongside an elite sniper from today's game. O'Neal recently posted a graphic that displayed himself, Stephen Curry, Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan and LeBron James with a question at the top that read 'Which two of these six would make the best duo possible?' and he made a surprising choice.

"I'm picking my favorite player @stephencurry30 and we ain't losing to nobody, EVER."

With so many legends to choose from, Shaq opted to roll with the shortest guy on the list and the only point guard. It's clear he wants someone with speed on his side and elite shooting.

When you really think about it, whatever team they'd hypothetically be on would have arguably the greatest threat from beyond the arc paired with the greatest paint presence. There is some truth to Shaq's statement!
