Lakers News: Shaquille O’Neal Makes Hall Of Fame Case For Decorated LA Comrade
Laker legend Shaquille O'Neal dominated the hardwood alongside Kobe Bryant en route to three championships for the purple and gold to start the millennium.
The duo wasn't alone in their ring years as LA boasted a fair amount of talent for their championship cores.
Now far removed from his playing days, O'Neal is making the case for one of those great teammates to earn a spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Horry's case is quite the interesting one as he never earned an All-Star nod let alone an All-NBA mention in his career.
The current Sportsnet LA analyst does however boast one of the highest ring totals in NBA history with seven championships on his mantle thanks to stints with several dynasties throughout history.
Horry was a young player on the Hakeem Olajuwon-led Rockets who won both championships during Michael Jordan's first retirement from the game.
After a drama-laden stint in Phoenix, the Lakers picked Horry up in a trade where he officially earned the moniker "Big Shot Bob".
Horry's pension for clutch performances truly took form after he hit a game-winning shot in the 2002 Western Conference Finals to tie the series at two apiece between LA and the Kings.
LA finished the job in seven and capped off the NBA's first threepeat since Jordan accomplished the feat to end his Bulls tenure in 1998.
Horry then moved on to the Spurs and won his final two championships with the silver and black in 2003 and 2005.
The latter title had his fingerprints all over it as he struck again in the clutch during Game 5 of the eventual seven-game series which San Antonio won.
Though it's highly unlikely Horry's case will reach the Hall of Fame, you simply can't tell the Lakers' nor the NBA's story without Big Shot Bob's clutch gene that led him to an insane trophy case at the end.
