Lakers News: "Shooting Stars" LeBron James Actor Talks Role As LA Hall Of Famer
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is regarded as possibly the greatest basketball player to ever play the game. He's transcended the game like no other, and his five seasons in LA have been filled with a ton of ups and downs.
James has not only blessed us with his talents on the court but he's been busy in movie studios as well. James has released many movies in his time in Los Angeles, and another one of his movies titled "Shooting Stars" is the latest of his production. The film follows the high school version of James, his teammates/friends, and their journey through high school basketball and becoming the No.1 team in the country.
The actor who was fortunate enough to play a young LeBron happens to be a top high school basketball prospect, Marquis Mookie Cook. Cook will attend Oregon University and was ranked 21st in his Class of 2023.
The ball player/actor talked about what it was like to play a young James and how his life has changed since.
“Definitely a little bit of a different type of feel behind it,” Cook said. “Little kids coming up like, ‘Oh, you’re the one playing LeBron!’ I’m so used to, ‘You’re Mookie Cook!’ because of basketball, not because of a movie.”

Cook was not only a top prospect, but he was teammates with James' son Bronny in eighth grade. While Bronny will attend USC this coming fall, Cook will be staying in his home state of Oregon.
The 18-year-old also discussed the challenges of getting down the future Hall of Famers mannerisms.
“It definitely did take a little while to embody him,” Cook said. “How straight up he runs, big posture with broad shoulders.”
This could be the beginning for the young man as he expressed how filming this movie has piqued his interest in acting. It's never too late to learn anything, and he plans to take full advantage of that.
James' high school story is worth watching and is available to watch on the Peacock streaming platform.
