Lakers News: Skip Bayless Convinced LA Can Make Real Playoff Noise

FS1 pundit believes this LA team is for real

There are four more games, Laker fans, and the purple and gold look really good. The Lakers had a big weekend, coming up with a huge road win against the Minnesota Timberwolves and a revenge win against a young Houston Rockets team.

LA is now two games above .500 and is only half a game back from the fifth seed in the Western Conference. The playoffs are starting to look like a reality for the Lakers, and many LA fans knew this team would get it done. However, some Laker fans (including myself) and people on the outside looking in thought the playoffs were out of the realm of possibility. It's real now, and many are coming around and think LA will not only make the playoffs but make some real noise in the postseason. 

One of those people saying that is FS1 analyst and well-known LeBron James hater Skip Bayless. Bayless and his co-host Shannon Sharpe were discussing LA's much-needed win against the Rockets on Sunday and said LA is now a real threat in the Western Conference and maybe beyond. 

In the 13-minute-long video, Bayless says that LA has real depth, and because of that, James can exert less energy. He goes on to say LA is a legit defensive team, and Anthony Davis could be one of the best players in the league if he's on. 

The Lakers look like they are trending in the right direction, and if they can keep this momentum, anything can happen. James had a month off of basketball where he could rest his body at 38. Davis is playing dominant, and they'll need him to be their best player from here on out. The rest of the guys need to continue to play their roles and elevate the games of their superstars and vice versa. 

The West remains wide open, and the purple and gold will look to get a stranglehold of it when/if they get the opportunity in the playoffs.
