The Los Angeles Lakers season has been similar to a roller coaster, going up and down at any given turn. Some nights the team looks unstoppable, while others they look like one of the worst in the entire NBA.

It's been a consistency problem for Los Angeles all year long, something that could end up hurting them down the line. They have battled through the drama of the season, but we still don't know what to expect from them on a given night.

With the Lakers playing for a potential play-in spot right now, the possible matchups could be problematic. This pertains to both their potential play-in matchup and first-round matchup depending where they end up.

This is especially true for star Anthony Davis, who hasn't had the best of luck against potential opponents. Currently, he is 0-9 lifetime against Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings head-to-head and 0-7 against Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets in their last seven meetings.

Los Angeles could match up with Sacramento in the play-in tournament or Denver in the first round. Both would give the team major problems, with the Lakers being the underdogs for each matchup.

While this isn't only on Davis, given that basketball is a team sport, the statistics in their matchups are strange. Both Sabonis and Jokic seem to give Davis some fits, so the Lakers will hope to avoid any playoff contests with these two teams.

However, if they are to reach their lofty goals for the year, they may need to go through at least Denver. That in itself would be an issue for Los Angeles, but the team first needs to reach the postseason before we can speculate on particular matchups for them.
