Lakers News: Timeline Revealed For In-Season Tournament
There are so many things to look forward to in the 2023-2024 NBA season for your Los Angeles Lakers. Their roster is deeper than it has been in years and another big man has not even been signed yet, Anthony Davis is locked in with his historic extension and LA will be a part of history this season. The league went all-in with their idea of an in-season tournament and even have a cash prize for the winners.
We already knew that the Lakers were going to be facing off against a number of familiar faces and top teams in their conference during this tournament but we also finally received word on when their exact games will take place.
The full in-season tournament schedule was released on August 15 and your Lakers will play their first game in the bracket on November 10 against the Phoenix Suns.
LA is part of the West Group A and they will follow up with matches against the Memphis Grizzlies on November 14, Portland TrailBlazers on November 17 and Utah Jazz on November 21.
Obviously, the Phoenix Suns have the league's new super team on their hands with the offseason addition of Bradley Beal. LA will have to come ready defensively to not only shut him down but also Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and DeAndre Ayton.
The Memphis Grizzlies likely will not have Ja Morant back by the time they face LA here but we got quite familiar with the rest of their squad in the playoffs. Jaren Jackson Jr. will be looking to get another shot at Anthony Davis and Memphis has some new veterans in Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose.
As for the Portland Trailblazers and Utah Jazz, they are not on the level of these other two teams but they still both have a lot of young talent on their squads that could pose LA some trouble.
Even though this tournament has caught a lot of negative criticism thus far, I'm excited to see how the best of our stars perform and hope the Lakers take it seriously!
