In this story:

The 2022-2023 season was one full of ups and downs for Anthony Davis as he battled numerous injuries early on but eventually overcame them to play some of the best basketball of his career. He was able to suit up for 56 games while putting forth 26 points, 12 rebounds, two assist, and two blocks.

His presence on both ends of the floor continues to be unmatched as he was able to thrive in two playoff series against the Memphis Grizzles and Golden State Warriors but eventually burned out against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Nonetheless, it was a year to be proud of as the Lakers overcame a 2-10 start to still make the Western Conference Finals.

So the biggest question remains: What is next for the Lakeshow and Anthony Davis? We've all heard the rumors from LeBron James himself that he is mulling retirement and should he make good on that, maybe LA will do AD a solid and send him on his way.

It will be super hard to contend for a championship without The King, especially if LA cannot land Kyrie Irving. Therefore, rival teams could look to put together potential trade packages for Davis if all comes crashing down in Hollywood.

And the Dallas Mavericks appear to be one of those squads.

"And at the trading deadline, Dallas had their eyes on Anthony Davis," said Colin Cowherd. "I think between the Lakers and Mavericks, you will hear in the next month... something."(Via The Volume)

Like I mentioned earlier, this move does become a lot more likely if LeBron James ends up retiring. LA will probably look to do what is best for Davis' career and put him in a good spot to still compete for a second championship.

We love and appreciate everything that AD has done for the purple and gold but we understand if this move needs to be done.
