Lakers News: Writer Excited By Early Returns From LA's 2 Best Passers
In the Lakers first preseason game against the Golden State Warriors, they were missing LeBron James and Austin Reaves. LA still put up a good fight, but without two of their best players, it would have been difficult to come away with the win.
However, with both of them back in the lineup for the team's second game against the Brooklyn Nets, the Lakers looked like the team many think they will be this season. While some things still need to be straightened out, LA looked comfortable together, and things seemed easy.
“But in preseason game No. 2, with two of their best passers back in action, the Lakers offense hummed, giving a glimpse of how things could look this upcoming season.”
Per Dan Woike of The LA Times
With James and Reaves back in game action, the Lakers offense really took off. The threat of both layers gives this LA squad some real firepower to work with, and they both do a great job of getting looks for others on the team.
Along with point guard D’Angelo Russell, James and Reaves will likely be the primary ball handlers this season, and they’ll be tasked with running the show. If this preseason game against the Nets was any indication of what is to come, LA fans should be excited.
“The Lakers scored 75 points in the first half before James and Davis went to the bench. Reaves, who finished with 18 points, played into the third quarter.”
Per Dan Woike of The LA Times
LA could have one of the better offenses across the NBA if they can stay healthy this season, and that should scare teams. One of the biggest problems for the Lakers last year was that they would go through scoring droughts, but this year that hopefully won't be an issue.
The Lakers have the look of a true title-contending team, and the hope is that this season ends with Banner 18 coming back to Los Angeles.
