Lakers News: Writer Praises Upcoming Documentary On LA Hall Of Famer As Year's Best So Far

A lot to unpack in this series!
In this story:

It's wild to think that even though Wilt Chamberlain played in the NBA back in the 1960's and early 1970's, his impact on the game of basketball still holds very strong today and the sports world wants to ensure that the newest of fans still are able to understand his story and appreciate what he did during his prime years. It's very clear that his legacy is one of the most intriguing in all of professional sports and a ton of records that he set back then still have yet to be touched.

Thanks to 'Goliath', a three-part documentary series about the playing career of Wilt Chamberlain made by Showtime Sports, fans are getting the opportunity to take a deep dive into what his life was like on and off the court. Kevin Garnett, Rob Ford, Gotham Chopra and more all helped put this together and with the first part of the new series already released last Friday and the next two parts dropping soon, positive reviews are already rolling in.

The Athletic's Richard Deitsch has made it clear that 'Goliath' will go down as one of the best sports documentaries ever and that watching it will allow viewers to gain a better appreciation for Wilt.

"The exploration of Chamberlain, directed by Rob Ford and Christopher Dillon, and executive produced by Ford, Kevin Garnett and Gotham Chopra among others, belongs in the conversation with the best ESPN “30 for 30” docs. Most will walk away from this doc with a new perspective on Chamberlain, who was once vilified as an athlete who could not win the championship as opposed to being an incredible unicorn who led teams not as talented as others to finals."
