A potential Laker trade surrounding Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Dejounte Murray may be in jeopardy.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder wants to keep Murray past the NBA trade deadline.

The Lakers and Murray have been linked for the past couple of months, and it seems inevitable for the All-Star guard to land in Laker land.

However, Snyder's words could change all of that. Snyder became the coach of the Hawks in late February 2023 and led them to a playoff appearance alongside Murray.

This could be something, or it could be nothing. At the end of the day, it's up to the front office, general manager, and owner to listen and do a trade they deem proper or necessary.

Murray could bolster the Lakers and take them back into championship contention. Through 45 games, the 27-year-old is averaging 21.4 points on 47% shooting from the field, five rebounds and 5.1 assists.

He's been great for the Hawks and is arguably their best player. The Lakers could benefit from his solid offense and his tremendous, versatile defense.

The trade talk between the Lakers and Hawks has been stalled for now. They could resume in the coming days as we approach the trade deadline. Anything can happen, and we've seen writer stuff happen around this time of year. Snyder has voiced his opinion, but it doesn't mean the Hawks front office will listen.

The following two weeks will be interesting for the Lakers.
