Lakers Provide Unfortunate Injury Update on Gabe Vincent
Lakers reserve guard Gabe Vincent is going to be out for at least the next two weeks with with his left knee effusion, the team announced on Thursday night. Vincent is going to be re-evaluated in two weeks and the team will assess the options at that time. Dave McMenamin of ESPN was among those to report the news.
This is a huge blow for the Lakers, who signed Vincent this offseason to provide guard depth off the bench. He was able to play in just four games this year before missing the team's win against the Clippers and now missing at least the next two weeks.
Vincent was the Lakers' largest signing this offseason (not including returning players), as they gave him three years and $33 million. He's struggled early on, though, averaging just 6.0 points and 3.0 assists per game on 39.3 percent shooting from the field and an abysmal 7.1 percent shooting from deep.
Hopefully Vincent is able to heal quickly and turn his season around by mid November. For now, the Lakers will be relying on sophomore guard Max Christie to play more big minutes.
Christie played solid defense in his 2023 debut against the Clippers, but struggled with his shot, going just 1-for-7 from the field and 1-for-5 from deep.
