Lakers Rumors: Expert Proposes Trade to Land Trae Young in LA Alongside LeBron James, Anthony Davis
With the NBA season now in full swing, your Los Angeles Lakers are facing more adversity than they would have liked this early in the year. They have started the year slowly, and it has people thinking about ways for them to upgrade the roster.
NBA writer Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report put together a few trade ideas that the Lakers could explore if they wanted to add a third star to the roster, and he included a familiar name that has been a target of LA for years.
“The Trade:
Trae Young, Bruno Fernando and Wesley Matthews for D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Taurean Prince Jalen Hood-Schifino and a 2029 first-rounder. Young waives his trade bonus to join the Lakers. LA waits until closer to the end of December to sign a 14th player at the vet min.”
Per Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report
This is a deal where I could see the Lakers moving on from their valuable 2029 first-round draft pick. Young is a true star in this league, and he could provide LA with a legitimate third-star level of player.
He would also give them another star to surround Anthony Davis within the post-LeBron era that will be coming up shortly. The question is whether this proposed trade would be enough to get the Hawks to move on from their franchise player.
“Note: While the Lakers could include other young players like Max Christie or Maxwell Lewis, the challenge is getting back to 14 players with hard cap restrictions. Additional moves or a multi-team trade could open avenues to compensate the Hawks if needed (including swapping draft picks).”
Per Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report
Young excels at playing the pick-and-roll game, and he would be lethal playing alongside Davis. He also is an excellent three-point shooter, who can fill up the box score on a nightly basis.
The Lakers have long been interested in bringing Young to town, and maybe this could be the time for them to do so. He would give them a much better chance to win the title this season, while also extending their championship window.
