Lakers Rumors: Rob Pelinka Reportedly Trying to Trade for Third Star to Join LeBron James, Anthony Davis

Will the Lakers pursue a third star in their quest for title 18?

The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a slow start after having one of the best offseasons in the sport. The Lakers "refined around the edges" after their surprise visit to the Western Conference Finals and are primed to finish the job this season.

However, as of Wednesday, the Lakers sit at 3-4 and look a ways away from being a championship contender. Still, it's early in the season, and there is plenty of time to turn things around.

This is LA, though, so there is no such thing as patience, and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka recognizes that. According to NBA insider Ramona Shelburne, Pelinka is already in the works of acquiring a third star.

Who that third star is, though, is unknown.

I know Laker fans still have PTSD from the last time we had a third star on the roster, but that wasn't a fit from the get-go. It will work if Rob can find the right player, and the Lakers' fortunes will turn in their favor.

It's still early in the season, and we won't know who will be available by the time the trade deadline approaches. Pelinka and the crew killed it last trade deadline, and if need be, they will do the same this season.

Hopefully, LA won't need to make any drastic changes like last season, but a trade or two may be necessary if they want to get over the hump. So far, things look bleak, but we'll see how the season progresses.

Can Rob cook again? We shall see.
