Lakers Unveil Brand New LA Inspired NBA Cup Court
Just a few days after the season opener, the Los Angeles Lakers have unveiled a brand new court for the upcoming NBA Cup tournament. They will be looking to repeat as champions of the NBA In-Season Tournament and will do so on a Los Angeles-inspired design.
This new design is an ode to the skyline of Los Angeles and will be a testament to the success that the team has seen in the city. Los Angeles has been one of the more successful organizations in the NBA over the years, claiming 17 NBA titles in the process.
The Lakers won the first-ever In-Season Tournament last season and will try to become repeat champions. It won't be easy but Los Angeles believes that they have a strong plan in place to win games.
As the team gears up for another season, they will be doing so with LeBron James and Anthony Davis still playing at a high level. The All-Star duo remains among one of the best in the NBA and it allows the Lakers to compete in every game that they play in.
The Western Conference is loaded once again this year so Los Angeles will have their hands full throughout the season. They have been a Play-In team over the past few years but want to do more this season.
This year the Lakers will be trying to go further into the postseason after being bounced out in the first round. The team is essentially the same from last season but they did make a change at the head coaching position.
They replaced former head coach Darvin Ham with JJ Redick, a move that many have criticized for his lack of experience. But Redick has the faith of the front office behind him and they believe that he can maximize the potential of this roster.
Redick brings new energy to this team and has put into place a new system designed for them to take more 3-point shots. He believes that he can push this roster to their limit and it will translate over to wins on the court.
Since he retired, Redick has stayed around the game of basketball as both a broadcaster and podcaster. He is extremely detail-oriented and wants Los Angeles to embrace the modern era of basketball.
If the Lakers can fully get behind the approach of Redick, they could find success this year. They have already won their first game and should only get better as time goes on.
