Lakers Unveil Wild New Court Design For In-Season Tournament
With the NBA's In-Season Tournament tipping off on November 3rd, the league recently revealed what each team's home court will look like for tournament games.
Here's a look at the Lakers' court:
Games will occur on Tuesdays and Fridays, with the Lakers' first tournament game being on November 10th on the road against the Suns. They'll open at home a few days later - November 14th against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The court is definitely a different look than what you'd typically see in the NBA, as the hardwood floors in the league are conventionally standardized colors (outside of City Edition courts), so the purple up the middle and remainder of the court being yellow is quite a change.
Moreover, the trophy in the middle is the highlight of the court, as even the NBA Finals no longer feature the trophy in the middle.
This could signify a potential preview of what new Finals courts could look like, but also makes it abundantly clear that the In-Season Tournament games mean more.
On the negative side, these courts can definitely be seen as distracting. Evident by the video below, quite a few players are shocked at the colors, especially given how bright some teams' courts are.
Expect some getting-used-to, but these courts are definitely unique and should catch viewers' eyes much easier.
