Lakers News: LeBron James Attends International Athlete’s American Debut
Two of the greatest athletes in the entire world were in the same building as Los Angeles Lakers All-Star forward LeBron James visited his good friend Lionel Messi, who made his American soccer debut on Friday evening in Miami.
Messi, who's arguably the greatest soccer player of his generation, and perhaps even of all time, made his highly anticipated debut for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF.
James has his fair share in the soccer world as a part-owner of English club, Liverpool. Seeing him at this game gave sports fans all around the world a real life fever dream.
Clearly, LeBron and Messi are the best of buds, as he's seen giving him a nice dap and a hug before the game.
LeBron James wasn't the only athlete in the building as Tennis Superstar, Serena Williams, was in the house with Fashion Icon, Kim Kardashian.
To put it in a basketball perspective, Lionel Messi playing in the United States is like LeBron James leaving the NBA to play for a Euroleague team, like Real Madrid or Panathiniakos.
Lionel Messi had the entire world watching his American debut, and as amazing as he is, he gave everyone a show.
Coming into the game at around 50 minutes in, Lionel Messi scored a last minute free kick to secure the 2-1 win over Mexican team, Cruz Azul, in Inter Miami's first match of the Leagues Cup.
This probably won't be the last time LeBron will be attending one of Messi's games, as the 2023 World Cup winner will be traveling to Los Angeles when Inter Miami takes on LAFC in September.
Will Messi repay the favor and be at the Crypt to see LeBron with the Lakers?
