LeBron James Reveals His Plans Regarding Future With Lakers
The future of LeBron James has been a heavily talked about topic of late surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers. The 21-year legend has another year on his contract with the Lakers, but he is eligible to opt-out at the end of the season.
With how the team has been playing this year, many have speculated that he could leave Los Angeles this offseason. James has been with the Lakers since 2018 but is still looking to win another NBA title before he hangs it up.
James spoke at the NBA All-Star game, giving more insight into his potential plans for the future.
Many have thought that James would remain with the Lakers, in part due to his $51 million contract that he could have for next season. James saying that he "hopefully" stays with the Lakers shows that he likely has no plans to leave.
This is great news for the Lakers, if true, but it doesn't mean that they can rest on their laurels. There is a long time between now and the summer, so the team still has work to do.
James has meant a great deal to the Lakers franchise, bringing them home a title in 2020. If he remains with the team long-term, it would be a good sign that he believes the Lakers are title contenders.
Alongside co-star Anthony Davis, the Lakers have one of the best duos in the NBA. Both want to bring at least one more title to Los Angeles and hopefully, James can have his farewell tour while donning a Lakers jersey.
