Lakers News: LeBron James Set to Pass LA Legend in Another Major Statistical Category This Season

Year 21 approaching, and there's much more history to be made!
In this story:

After watching Lakers Forward, LeBron James, perform on an NBA Court for the past 20 years, all of the highlight reels, achievements, and accolades can only be seen as something that will never be matched.

But there is plenty of more work to do if LeBron wants to continue to rank up in the All-Time list.

There are about 10 records and all-time rankings that LeBron can still conquer as he prepares for his 21st NBA season, and so here's a list of a few that Laker fans should keep in mind when the NBA season begins.

LeBron James can become the first-ever 20-time All-Star, surpassing a Legend that he's battled against in the ranks, Kareem Abdul-Jabar.

Another 20 he can make on Year 21 is his 20th All-NBA team honor. Nobody has ever accumulated more than 15 (!) All-NBA.

James could also become the third player to earn the honor in their 38 year-old or older NBA season (Tim Duncan 2014-15, and Kareem Abdul-Jabar 1985-86 season)

Lets talk some stats.

We've seen LeBron surpass Kareem for the All-time points rank last season, but what other ranking can he top?

Only 10 players have grabbed 9,000 career defensive rebounds, including James, who has grabbed 9,001.

Next season, if he averages 7.1 per game like he did in 2022-23, then he needs to play 56 games to pass Abdul-Jabbar's total (9,394) and 68 games to pass Moses Malone's total (9,481).

Now, the funniest stat of them all, James can jump Kareem again in the All-time Shots Attempted list in just his 12th game!

James has attempted a total of 28,044 field goals, which is 263 fewer than Abdul-Jabbar attempted in his career.

If he averages at least 22.2 shot attempts next season, like he did in 2022-23, he will move into the No. 1 spot in his 12th game.

Like we said, lots to play for LeBron James this season, but the end goal remains the same - the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
