Lakers News: LeBron James Shares Special Moment With Dodgers Star Mookie Betts
Your Los Angeles Dodgers were witnesses to one of the NBA GOATs tonight, when All-NBA Los Angeles Lakers small forward LeBron James sat in a skybox to take in the Dodgers' ongoing bout against the Miami Marlins. The Dodgers are currently leading the Marlins 3-1 in the top of the ninth inning in Echo Park.
In a very fitting moment for LeBron James Bobblehead Night, there was apparently a mutual exchange of respect between the two Los Angeles MVPs in attendance.
As Noah Camras of All Dodgers details, James stood and applauded 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts after the Dodgers' seven-time All-Star second baseman scored his second home run of the evening (and 34th of the season!). Betts responded by saluting James upon officially finishing his trip to home plate. And James capped the exchange by removing his hat and tipping it towards the two-time World Series champ in another gesture of respect.
Here's that double-salute:
James, a 19-time All-Star and 19-time All-NBA honoree, is one of the most decorated players in basketball history. The 30-year-old Betts is, like the Lakers superstar, a generational talent. It's fun to see this generous moment of respect between the two Los Angeles superstars.
There will be more Lakers-Dodgers interplay to come this season. September 1st at Dodger Stadium is officially Lakers Day, where attendant fans will be treated to special Kobe Bryant-centric jerseys.
