Lakers News: LeBron James Set To Join NBA Superstars On Team USA For 2024 Olympics
With the conclusion of the FIBA World Cup over the weekend, Team USA is now focusing its efforts towards the Olympics in Paris next year.
Given that the States took fourth place in the World Cup, the team is looking to reload with some of the game's biggest players.
On Sunday, 38-year-old Lakers superstar LeBron James expressed a desire to play for Team USA in the Paris Olympics.
James is the leader of a group looking to get the NBA's best players to play for their home country.
As of right now, James is working on convincing other stars such as Steph Curry and Kevin Durant to also join the team.
If he does join the team, this will mark LeBron's fourth Olympics and first one since 2012. Currently, James is a two-time gold medalist (2008, 2012) and earned a bronze medal in Athens in 2004.
In 2008, James was a big part of the Redeem Team, which has a Netflix documentary about them. Following the disappointing result of the Athens games, Team USA reloaded with some of the country's best players.
Similar to this upcoming Olympics, the USA is coming off of a disappointing FIBA World Cup that has fans nervous about the team's chances on the international stage.
If LeBron is successful at recruiting the best in the world, American fans will have nothing to worry about as the Paris Olympic team could be one of the most talented basketball teams of all time.
