Lakers News: Lonnie Walker IV Celebrates Post-Trade Deadline Roster
As your Los Angeles Lakers get set to do battle against the formidable Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals tonight, it appears that at least one LA role player likes his team's chances.
An ebullient Lonnie Walker IV spoke with Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet after LA's Game 6 win to discuss how the seventh-seeded Lakers have come this far, and how far he thinks Los Angeles can go. Walker scored 13 points for LA on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor (3-of-5 from long range) and 2-of-4 shooting from the charity stripe.
"As long as we're aggressive, making the right plays, playing team ball, man I don't think anyone can stop us," an optimistic Walker claimed.
The Lakers have had an impressive postseason run thus far. First, Los Angeles defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in a play-in game to secure the West's seventh seed. Next, the team went on to vanquish the higher-seeded Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors in a pair of six-game series.
Walker also reflected on how the club has changed since a flurry of savvy trades executed by team vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka.
“Man, it sounds amazing," Walker noted." But then after the trades and the players we’ve gotten, it just took us to a whole ‘nother level. The chemistry, the love that we all got within one another, it’s great. It’s great to know we started [with a] 2-10 [record] and everyone was talking all of that talk but we still made it. And we got a lot more to go, we got a lot more to give and this is just the first step to what we trying to accomplish.”
