Lakers News: Only One Los Angeles Star Was Voted Onto 2023 All-NBA Team
A group of 100 media members voted Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James onto the 2022-23 All-NBA Third Team, the league's PR team has reported.
Injuries limited the 6'9" vet to just 55 games this season for Los Angeles, though he averaged a stellar 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 0.6 steals a game when he did suit up.
This marks James' 19th All-NBA Team inclusion, to go along with his 19th All-Star berth earlier this season. The 38-year-old has been named to 13 All-NBA First Teams, three All-NBA Second Teams and now three All-NBA Third Teams.I'm sure he's hoping to qualify for his 11th NBA Finals appearance in these playoffs. LA is currently in the midst of what could be a closeout game in its second round series against the Golden State Warriors tonight. A win would help the team advance to its second Western Conference Finals appearance in four seasons.
15 players are named to one of three All-NBA Teams each year. Injury-prone LA center Anthony Davis, who actually played one more game than James did this season, was the next-closest name to miss out on a spot on that All-NBA Third Team alongside James.
James joins Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard (who made the cut while playing just 58 games for a 33-49 team), New York Knicks power forward Julius Randle, and Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis.
This could very well be James' final All-NBA Team, as the impending new CBA includes language that generally prohibits the inclusion of players who have suited up for less than 65 contests for these kinds of year-end honors going forward.
