Your Los Angeles Lakers are celebrating two big Kobe Bryant moments this week. The 6'6" shooting guard, an 18-time All-Star, five-time champ and the 2008 MVP, would have turned 45 years old on Wednesday, August 23rd. Thursday, August 24th marks Kobe Bryant Day in Los Angeles and Orange County (Bryant lived in Newport Beach), as it represents the Hall of Famer's two LA jersey numbers, eight and 24.

Accordingly, there are a variety of special tie-ins all around the city.

UCLA Health is getting in on the festivities, with special themed care packages gifted to newborns in their affiliate hospitals born this week.

"Purple & Gold family from day one," the Lakers Instagram notes. "In honor of Kobe’s birthday, babies born this week are receiving special care packages thanks to @uclahealth & @mambamambacitasports."

The care packages include combo Lakers-UCLA wraps for the infants, Bryant No. 24 shirseys, Bryant No. 8 skull caps, and a special certificate for the families commemorating the moment.

"Congratulations! What a big day for you and your family," the certificate read. "A birthday on this day is so special because it's Kobe Day.

Kobe Bryant always encouraged and motivated the 'next generation.' To honor him and his legacy, we hope this gesture will do just that.

And we hope you'll wear these with pride, and that you and your little one will be a part of the Purple and Gold forever--just like Kobe."

The UCLA Health system comprises several affiliated medical centers.
