Lakers News: Nikola Jokic Surpasses 2 LA Legends For New Playoff Record

The two-time MVP has reached another level in this postseason.

In Game 3 of the ongoing NBA Finals this week, All-NBA Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic unlocked a new career achievement while guiding his team to a 109-94 win over the Miami Heat. Denver has since won Game 4 in Miami, to bring the series record as of this writing to 3-1.

Jokic scored 32 points, pulled down 21 (!) rebounds, and dished out 10 dimes in the winning effort. For good measure, Denver point guard Jamal Murray chipped in 34 points, 10 boards and 10 assists.

Per ESPN Stats & Info, Jokic has now leapfrogged two Los Angeles Lakers legends to become the only player who has notched three career 30-20-10 playoff games three times. The 6'11" big man, already clearly the best passing big of all time, is quickly emerging as one of the league's best-ever distributors.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain, two LA Hall of Fame superstars whose jerseys hang in the rafters of Crypto.com Arena, are the other players to notch this particular statistical achievement multiple times, though they only did that twice during their storied careers.

If he keeps this up for much longer, Jokic will soon be knocking on the door of the all-time big man conversation. He's well on his way already.
