Promising Lakers Rookie Inks Deal with Wasserman Sports Agency
There are multiple players on the Lakers with high upside. One is rookie wing Maxwell Lewis, who the team took in the second round of this year's NBA Draft.
LA traded up prior to the start of the draft with the intent to take Lewis at pick number 40 if he was still sitting there. He was there, and everyone in the Lakers organization rejoiced.
Lewis recently signed with the Wasserman Sports Agency as he begins his basketball career. This is a big moment for the rookie and shows the potential that he has.
Lewis starred at Pepperdine University last season, averaging 17.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He also shot the ball well from deep at 34.8 percent.
The Lakers were intrigued by his upside and length after seeing what he could do in college. They were very excited to see him perform during this year's NBA Summer League.
Lewis did struggle a bit during the summer games, but the hope is that he can continue working on his game. He likely will be in the G-League this season, with limited time with the Lakers if he can perform well.
He looked timid at times like he didn't want to make a mistake. Hopefully, he gains more confidence from playing more and gets to showcase his actual skill set.
The team likely sees him as more of a long-term type of player that should be able to help them down the line. He projects to be a high-end role player for this team and should help spread the floor whenever he gets a chance.
