Promising Lakers Wing Has Committed to 7 AM Offseason Workouts with LeBron James
The Los Angeles Lakers have clear goals for their 2023-2024 season and all the moves that their front office made this summer show that they have learned from previous decisions over past years. Despite multiple big-name players being made available, LA instead opted to hold onto majority of their younger assets and picked up some new faces on team-friendly deals.
Among the players that the Lakers dealt for at the 2023 trade deadline and held on to is Rui Hachimura. Hachimura is still just 25-years-old and averaged 12 points and four boards on 55 percent from the field and 48 percent from deep.
Something important to note is that Hachimura's role with the Lakers could look quite different in the coming season. LA welcomed in two big men in Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood and the hope is that at least one of them will be able to start and play a decent amount of minutes next to Anthony Davis.
AD has made it clear that he no longer wants to spend all of his floor time playing the five position and if Hayes or Wood lands a starting spot, that means LeBron James will have to guard quicker wings. The alternative to that is James at the four position and either Hachimura or Jarred Vanderbilt playing small forward.
It seems like Hachimura is putting in the work early to land that starting three position as according to Dave McMenamin, he has consistently been arriving at 7am at training facilities to work out with LeBron James.
"LeBron James has “revamped energy”for his 21st season. “In the weeks leading up to training camp, LeBron’s been doing 2-a-day practices. A guywho LeBron has rubbed off on? Rui Hachimura. He’s been meeting LBJ at the gym for 7am workouts.” - @mcten"
Let's see how these two fair together in the front court this coming season!
