Rejoice Laker fans! The 2023-2024 season schedule has officially dropped, and it’s almost time for Lakers basketball once again.

LA comes into the season with high expectations after a run to the Western Conference Finals last season. They will be looking for a league-best 18th NBA title this season.

The Lakers will match up with every NBA team this year, but of course, some games mean more than others. Here are the top five games on the schedule this season!

5. November 1st, 2023, vs Los Angeles Clippers

Playing the inter-city rivals is always entertaining. Bragging rights are on the line here for both sides, but the Clippers have dominated this matchup of late.

The Lakers haven’t beaten the Clippers since the opening game in the bubble back in 2020. This could be their chance to change that so it lands on the list.

If they could get a win over the Clippers, it could help set the tone for the season going forward.

4. November 22nd, 2023, vs Dallas Mavericks

It’s the Lakers first matchup against the Mavericks and Kyrie Irving of the year. After all the talk for the last few seasons about Irving possibly joining LA, they finally get to face him when he is under a long-term contract. There will still be the storylines leading up to this game, but it shouldn’t be the same as it has been.

This will be a good test for the Lakers early in the season against another Western Conference opponent that they could be battling for seeding with. Irving and Luka Doncic create a strong duo to deal with, and this one should be high scoring.

3. January 27th, 2024, @ Golden State Warriors

The first matchup between these two teams since their playoff series will be a great one. Both squads know each other well and the Warriors surely will be looking to get back to LA.

This game is on the road for the Lakers, so it helps land it on this list because Chase Center is one of the hardest places to play. Grabbing a win here won’t be easy, but hopefully, both teams are hitting their stride, and we get a great game.

2. December 25th, 2023, vs Boston Celtics

Playing your arch-rival on Christmas Day doesn’t get any bigger. This is going to be one of the more fun games on the schedule, and I can’t wait. Boston and LA are easily the biggest rivalry that the sport has to offer, so the schedule makers knew it would draw in massive numbers on the holiday.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis going up against Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. It doesn’t get better than this on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day in the NBA is a special event, so this will be cool to see. Plus, this will be a nice measuring test for the Lakers a few months into the year against a team that many expect to be very good again next season.

1. October 24th, 2023, @ Denver Nuggets

It’s a little cliché to put the season-opening game as the top game on the Lakers schedule, but it’s an important matchup.

LA will get a chance to see how their new roster stacks up against the defending champions, assuming everyone is healthy of course. The Lakers would love nothing more than to start their year off with a win against the team that knocked them out of the postseason.

They get a chance to spoil the Nuggets ring ceremony and to get some revenge for the bitter defeat in the postseason. The schedule makers knew exactly what they were doing with this matchup, and it should be must-see TV.
