Lakers News: Reporter Believes This LA Signing Was A Top 5 Free Agency Steal

Maybe the steal of the offseason...
In this story:

Possibly the signing of the offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers, former Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent looks the part. LA got him on a three-year deal and he will replace guard Dennis Schroder in the rotation. For now, Vincent will likely come off the bench but he ultimately could end up starting if things shake out his way.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report seems to believe that Vincent is a top five steal of the offseason. The Lakers certainly hope he is right.

"Gabe Vincent leaving the Miami Heat for less than the full non-taxpayer's mid-level is something—something great for the Los Angeles Lakers"

Per Bleacher Report

Vincent should thrive alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis due to his ability to play both on and off ball. He is a good three point shooter and James will be able to grant him strong looks. During this past seasons playoffs, Vincent hit 44.6 percent of spot-up threes, something James is great at getting for his guys.

He is also extremely tough minded and hounds opponents on the perimeter. Similar to how he had Bam Adebayo in Miami, Vincent can rely on having a strong rim protector in Davis in LA. That should allow him to be more aggressive on defense and possibly take a risk or two for a steal.

"Getting someone who can toggle between off- and on-ball responsibilities while juicing beyond-the-arc volume is huge for the Lakers offense. That it comes from someone who can defend at the point of attack, as a starter or bench headliner, is even bigger."

Per Bleacher Report

The on-court fit seems great and was a big reason as to why the Lakers targeted the guard. If he plays like he did in the postseason, LA will have gotten a steal. His contract is only for $11 million per season, which is on par for the market value for similar players.
