Lakers News: Starting Fives Finalized For Last Game Of Regular Season Against Jazz
Your Los Angeles Lakers have announced the starting five for their season finale against a nakedly tanking Utah Jazz team, who also have revealed their own first five.
For Los Angeles, the team's new-look starters are intact: point guard D'Angelo Russell, shooting guard Austin Reaves, All-Star small forward LeBron James, power forward Jarred Vanderbilt and center Anthony Davis will wrap up what has been an up-and-down season for Los Angeles looking for a win. LA is 4-1 with this group.
The Jazz, who are resting six rotation players including their top three scorers, will start Kris Dunn at point guard, Ochai Agbaji at shooting guard, Luka Samanic at small forward, Kelly Olynyk at power forward, and Udoka Azubuike at center. Utah has only ever played these five together once all season, and lost that game.
An LA win may not necessarily be a layup, as we learned on Tuesday. A mostly healthy Los Angeles played a very depleted Utah squad, and needed a masterful LeBron James run in overtime to stave off disaster, winning 135-133. But the healthy-ish Lakers should still vanquish the rebuilding Jazz today.
Provided they do, the Lakers will finish at 43-39 for the season, and, depending on the results of today's Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers games, could make the playoffs proper.
