Lakers News: Surprising LA Star Has Best Finals Game Win Percentage In Franchise History
Your Los Angeles Lakers have appeared in oodles of NBA Finals during their tenure in the league. If we count the George Mikan-Minnesota Lakers years (which LA sure does), LA has appeared in 32 Finals series altogether, winning a record-tying 17.
The most recent Lakers title was won in 2019-20, with 19-time All-Star LeBron James and eight-time All-Star Anthony Davis leading the charge.
Neither James, nor Davis, nor any other player who has or is set to get a statue outside of Crypto.com Arena, however, has won the biggest percentage of their healthy NBA Finals games among Los Angeles players.
According to Dionysis Aravantinos of HoopsHype, the Laker with the best-ever winning percentage in the NBA Finals is another LA All-Star, center Andrew Bynum (yes, he was an All-Star one time). The oft-injured big man missed the entirety of the 2008 NBA Finals, but played in most of the club's subsequent two title-winning series circa 2009 and '10. His 8-4 record in the Finals (66.7%) ranks 15th among all other players in the history of the league, but first among Lakers.
