Surprising Names Appear In List Of Top 10 Highest-Paid Lakers

Very interesting list here..
In this story:

Your Los Angeles Lakers have seen some great players come through their organization over the years. And with that comes a lot of money being shelled out to them.

As the years have gone on, the money has grown even higher and players are making more than ever now.

HoopsHype dropped a list of the top-10 highest-earning Laker players of all time, and while some names you’d expect to be, others are a little odd to see.

Of course, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal made the cut, but other players like Loul Deng and Kentavius Caldwell-Pope made the list.

Caldwell-Pope was with the team for four seasons and helped them win the 2020 title. He first earned a $18 million contract back in 2017 when he joined the team. It was seen as an overpay, but it also was a nice gesture to his agent, which helped them land James the next offseason.

Deng was probably one of the worst contracts in Lakers history. He signed a four-year deal worth $64 million with the team back in 2016. It was seen as a bad deal then and still is to this day. But the Lakers needed to fill out their roster with players due to a salary increase across the league.

"The first day of 2016 free agency was one for the ages. A freshly signed Collective Bargaining Agreement saw a huge spike in salary cap for every team"

Per HoopsHype.com

Other names on the list include Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis and Andrew Bynum. Most of these were star-level players, but some are surprising, to say the least.

LA will continue to shell out big money for star players, but they likely have learned their lesson about giving large amounts out to others.
