Lakers News: Watch Anthony Davis' Block Party Against Suns In Last Preseason Game

Davis shows off his big defensive skills.
In this story:

Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis' two-way dominance made him the No. 1 overall pick back in 2012.

His defensive skills especially have continued to carry over 11 seasons later. To wit, Davis gave fans reasons to be excited early into LA's final preseason game against the Phoenix Suns last week.

Nobody on Phoenix's roster had answers for Davis' great length throughout the first half of LA's final tune-up for the regular season.

The former Wildcat finished with those six rejections and poured in an efficient 15 points alongside his gaudy defensive numbers.

LeBron James led the Purple in Gold with 19 points in his final showing of the preseason but it wasn't enough for LA to secure the win. Instead, the Suns won 123-100.

The Suns wound up beating the Lakers by 23 in James and Kevin Durant's first matchup in any capacity since 2018.

Durant led Phoenix with 21 points and dropped LA's overall preseason record to 2-4.

Regular season action kicks off on Tuesday and several questions still linger over Crypto.com Arena's own.

Davis' health remains vital for LA's championship pursuits because we know just how good he can be when he is available.

Six blocks, preseason or not, is an insane number that any defense would kill to have from their whole team let alone just one player.

James' age adds to LA's vulnerabilities but Rob Pelinka's new look roster could help ease those concerns.

Old friends from the team's 2023 playoff run return to play some big roles for LA's starting lineup.

New players from other previous contenders also hope to contribute their skillsets starting next Tuesday night.

Davis' inspired preseason finale is a great sign for LA's ultimate goals this season but it'll take more than just his defense for another Laker ring.
